CASE STUDY
How I helped Lizzie renegotiate her role and land a 20% salary increase
Lizzie had been working at her company for 3 years and whilst she loved her work, over time she felt undervalued by leadership and was hungry to take on more responsibility.
After deciding she wanted to address the topic with leadership, we worked together on prepping a conversation to negotiate a change in roles and responsibilities, as well as a salary increase. We outlined a framework for the conversation, prepared scripts that Lizzie could use and planned for various scenarios so she could walk in feeling confident and prepared.
“Alex is incredible! She was so knowledgeable and helpful, and very generous with her time. The thing she has really helped me with was confidence, and a way to frame the approach to my bosses for a job change and a pay rise - both of which happened! I couldn’t recommend Alex’s services enough.”
— Lizzie, Development Producer

About Alex
I’ve spent the past decade working my way up from an entry-level role at Quiksilver, to leading regional marketing teams at companies like Red Bull and Squarespace.
If there’s one thing I never really expected when starting my career- it would be the challenges I’d face along the way. And 99% of the time- it’s not about the work, it’s everything around it.
Bad bosses. Reorgs. Toxic cultures. Missed promotions. Redundancies… the list goes on.
I’ve spent thousands over the years working with executive coaches, doing training after hours and reading as many books as I could get my hands on.
But at the end of the day, nothing beats chatting with someone who’s been in your shoes and just gets it.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Office Hours is designed to be a structured mentoring session. A lot of people have different opinions on the difference between career coaching and mentoring, but this is how I see it: mentoring is typically practical guidance from someone with lived experience in a similar role or position. Career coaching is typically more about self-reflection, delivered by a trained coach who may or may not have direct experience in your role or industry. There’s benefits to both- but for Office Hours, I wanted this to be an action-oriented, practical mentoring session where I can share tried and tested strategies that have worked for me in my career.
-
I’m glad you asked! To get started, you can purchase your session and book a time directly on my booking page.
-
Absolutely! You can book as many sessions as you like via my booking page (go nuts)! At the moment you need to book these separately, we’re looking to add packages (and multi-session discounts 👀) in the near future.
-
When you book the session, you’ll be asked to complete two questions at the time of booking. Firstly- what is the challenge that you’re facing? Secondly- what would you like to come out of this session with? Sharing this ahead of time will help ensure we can get the most out of our hour.
-
After our session, I’ll share our call recording, transcript and a summary of any key actions from our time to help you move forward. Beyond this, I don’t provide ongoing email support, but I’d be happy to support you in additional Office Hours sessions.
-
If you’ve already booked a session and need to change your time, then you’re able to do so provided it’s at least 24 hours in advance. Unfortunately any changes within 24 hours will forfeit the full fee.
-
Unfortunately I’m not able to offer refunds or cancellations once you’ve booked your session. But if you have any concerns or questions about whether the session is a good fit for you, then feel free to email me ahead of time- I’d love to chat.
